479 Spotlight Interview
May 26, 2021 . 9:38 AM

00:03 – 00:05
Brock
Welcome to 479 Spotlight

00:05 – 00:09
Brock
where we provide free promotion to local businesses

00:09 – 00:12
Brock
in the NWA area to give them more exposure and create more trust in the community.

00:12 – 00:19
Brock
Overall, we want to provide an inside look to our local business heroes that keep NWA running.

00:19 – 00:23
Brock
My name is Brock Holland, a small business owner in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and founder of 479 Spotlight.

00:23 – 00:25
Brock
Today we have Brittany Miller.

00:25 – 00:25
Brock
Say Hi.

00:26 – 00:31
Brock
She is with Brittany’s Balloons in Springdale, Arkansas.

00:31 – 00:34
Brock
And so these interviews have two main focuses.

00:34 – 00:35
Brock
First.

00:35 – 00:37
Brock
We’re going to address any customers, or potential customers.

00:37 – 00:42
Brock
That might be listening, and then we’ll be talking to either current entrepreneurs, or wanna be entrepreneurs.

00:43 – 00:46
Brock
And kinda give more insights to Brittany’s story.

00:46 – 00:47
Brock
So let’s get started, Brittany.

00:47 – 00:48
Brock
Are you ready?

00:49 – 00:49
Brittany
Yes.

00:50 – 00:51
Brock
Fantastic.

00:51 – 00:55
Brock
Well, how long have you been doing Britney’s Balloons?

00:56 – 00:58
Brittany
It started right before COVID.

00:59 – 01:00
Brittany
Probably like.

01:01 – 01:02
Brittany
January of last year.

01:02 – 01:02
Brittany
Actually.

01:03 – 01:04
Brock
Ok, OK.

01:04 – 01:05
Brock
I’m getting a lot of this lately.

01:06 – 01:06
Brittany
Yeah.

01:07 – 01:08
Brittany
Just arrived before COVID.

01:08 – 01:10
Brittany
So it’s been about a year and a half ish, maybe.

01:11 – 01:17
Brock
Ok, and who exactly do you serve? Who would you say is your ideal customer?

01:17 – 01:24
Brittany
Anybody who wants to throw a party or have a celebration and wants some really

01:24 – 01:26
Brittany
cute decor that’s super in.

01:26 – 01:29
Brittany
That doesn’t want to do it themselves.

01:31 – 01:34
Brock
Perfect, so again, give me just like a visual description.

01:34 – 01:38
Brock
What do these balloons look like, like what are we talking about?

01:38 – 01:49
Brittany
So um, right now it’s like a super “in” thing to have really pretty balloon garlands, balloon walls and things like that.

01:49 – 01:57
Brittany
So usually what I do is blow up different sizes of balloons, so you have a lot of, like, a variety of balloon sizes and textures.

01:57 – 02:06
Brittany
And then, I’ll find somewhere that, no means like a wall or something that needs dolled up, or I’ve done on fences or doorways.

02:06 – 02:24
Brittany
And then I just, you know, I attach the balloons and make them all pretty and whimsical looking and it’s just a really, like, it’s a really eye catching thing that is like really super simple, it’s just balloons, but like, it’s super eye catching and people really like it and they think it’s really pretty.

02:24 – 02:26
Brock
That’s awesome.

02:26 – 02:26
Brittany
Yeah, OK.

02:26 – 02:34
Brock
So essentially, you’re just adding variety or visual appeal to either an event, party, or weddings.

02:39 – 02:40
Brittany
Anything anyone’s doing.

02:40 – 02:44
Brock
Now is there much competition for you in Northwest Arkansas?

02:45 – 02:57
Brittany
Well, I, so I started seeing balloon stuff at this event, called Rhea Lana’s, as it’s a consignment event for moms.

02:57 – 03:04
Brittany
And anyway, I saw this really, really pretty gigantic balloon thing and these blends are huge, like three feet wide.

03:04 – 03:05
Brittany
And I was like, I didn’t know the …

03:05 – 03:15
Brittany
But And then one of my really good friends that lives in Idaho, started a balloon,
making bullying garlands.

03:15 – 03:18
Brittany
And so I was looking at her stuff.

03:18 – 03:20
Brittany
And then I decided, Hey, it can’t be that hard.

03:20 – 03:42
Brittany
And so I just made a couple for like some parties at my house and, and stuff like that, But as far as I’m aware, there are several like party companies and things within north-west Arkansas that offer balloon garland’s that’s like a extra but I’m not sure exactly if anybody else offers just Boolean garlands.

03:42 – 03:43
Brittany
I’m not.

03:43 – 03:43
Brock
Sure OK.

03:44 – 03:48
Brock
So you’re like a pioneer here like with your own.

03:48 – 03:54
Brittany
Art, I feel like Balloon garlands are like people, I mean people like balloons, but I feel like they’re kind of a new thing.

03:54 – 03:58
Brittany
And they’re kind of, they’re starting to get real trendy people, are looking for that.

03:59 – 04:02
Brock
Hey, it’s, it’s awesome to be on the right side of the wave, no doubt about it.

04:02 – 04:04
Brittany
I guess so.

04:04 – 04:15
Brock
If a customer wants to be making a decision between your business and let’s say 2 or 3 others that you’re doing this as well, why would you suggest they at least give you a try?

04:16 – 04:17
Brittany
Wow.

04:18 – 04:20
Brittany
My cost is probably less.

04:20 – 04:25
Brittany
My husband thinks I should charge more but my stay at home mom.

04:25 – 04:28
Brittany
It’s really easy for me to blow up these balloons at home.

04:28 – 04:33
Brittany
I just, I, when I get an order, I, I asked for half the money upfront.

04:33 – 04:36
Brittany
That way I can purchase all the balloons and then I spend an afternoon.

04:36 – 04:40
Brittany
Like not even really an afternoon and I blow up all the blends in a big brown.

04:40 – 04:48
Brittany
My kids love it, they play with them for a while and then I string them all together and then I bring him to whoever’s event or party it is.

04:48 – 04:53
Brittany
I install it there and like, make sure, you know, finagle it So it looks cute.

04:53 – 04:59
Brittany
But I mean, for the most part, people are doing just parties for like one day.

04:59 – 05:02
Brittany
I haven’t done an event that’s been across multiple days.

05:03 – 05:05
Brittany
So I’m not buying super expensive balloons!

05:05 – 05:10
Brittany
So my confidence is actually a lot lower, for someone who is like this …

05:10 – 05:13
Brittany
Event, where the balloon thing needs to be up for, like a week and a half.

05:14 – 05:26
Brittany
They need to buy more expensive balloons so that they can have that up for us to have, but like most of us like kids parties and grad parties and things like that and it’s like they’re staying up for a few hours and then you just pop them in the trash.

05:26 – 05:27
Brittany
So it’s like.

05:27 – 05:28
Brock
Right now I.

05:28 – 05:37
Brittany
Don’t I don’t feel like I should buy super expensive balloons for something that’s just for an afternoon but it depends on the customer, what they want and stuff like that.

05:38 – 05:42
Brock
Of course yeah, I’m learning more about balloons than I ever thought I’d be interested to know.

05:42 – 05:44
Brittany
There you go, you go.

05:45 – 05:56
Brock
Awesome, OK, OK, so then, What would you say then that your customers’ lives kinda look like after they have bought your, you know, your service?

05:56 – 06:01
Brock
They’re, you know, they, they decided to go with you, that you put this up for them, like, what are they experiencing?

06:02 – 06:08
Brittany
Well, first off, they’re getting like a one-on-one chat with me.

06:08 – 06:24
Brittany
We’re talking back and forth about what ideas they have in mind, and then I kind of, I, now, I’m able to show more pictures of things that I’ve done, but I’m also just a creative person, so a lot of times people can send me stuff on Pinterest or something and go, Hey, I like something like this.

06:24 – 06:34
Brittany
And I say, Oh yeah, this is going to cost you about this much with me and and then after that, you know, we can stay in touch and we can finagle things.

06:34 – 06:38
Brittany
Oh, I actually don’t want silver balloons, I want this balloon instead.

06:38 – 06:39
Brittany
And I’m like, OK.

06:39 – 06:39
Brittany
Yeah.

06:39 – 06:39
Brittany
Sure.

06:40 – 06:51
Brittany
And Then I’ll come to their house and I’m a really nice person and I think I’m really funny so we have a great time while I set up balloons and I’m not super awkward.

06:54 – 06:55
Brittany
Set up your balloons and.

06:56 – 07:03
Brittany
And then from then on, you know you just get to enjoy them and I love it when people take pictures and send them to me.

07:04 – 07:05
Brittany
Um And?

07:06 – 07:17
Brittany
When, yeah, I love it when they tag me on Facebook because that’s how I get seen more as people say Oh yeah, I really liked this Boland thing or know when people come and see their blends.

07:17 – 07:19
Brittany
Oh, those blends are cute and say, Oh yeah.

07:20 – 07:23
Brittany
By Brittany’s Balloons or whatever, so that’s kind of how it is.

07:23 – 07:30
Brittany
And then if a disaster ensues and your balloons fall down, I can come in, put them back up before your event or whatever.

07:31 – 07:32
Brock
Because.

07:33 – 07:34
Brittany
That’s only happened to me once.

07:34 – 07:34
Brittany
And like.

07:35 – 07:37
Brittany
Though like a lot of balloons I’ve done so.

07:39 – 07:43
Brock
I mean, you’re essentially providing a very unique design perspective.

07:43 – 07:51
Brock
And you’re providing, what I call, like, a social media moment, where people at this event are gonna be able to, you know, get a photo with this, that you just wouldn’t see in other places.

07:58 – 08:07
Brock
Do you have any tips or advice about balloon garlands, either whether someone’s looking to do it themselves or things that they might watch out for, if they’re going to hire someone for the service.

08:07 – 08:10
Brock
Like, kinda tips advice, would you offer?

08:10 – 08:11
Brock
Lookout like.

08:11 – 08:14
Brittany
If they were gonna, if they were going to hire someone to do a bland garland for him.

08:14 – 08:14
Brittany
Yeah.

08:15 – 08:20
Brock
Yeah, Start that way, and then if, you know, if they thought they were going to do it themselves, maybe it’s harder than they expected.

08:20 – 08:20
Brock
I don’t know.

08:20 – 08:22
Brock
I have no idea how to do this.

08:22 – 08:22
Brock
Yeah.

08:23 – 08:32
Brittany
Well, I guess, first off, I learned, I’ve learned some tips and tricks via YouTube videos.

08:32 – 08:35
Brittany
Lots of people, there’s lots of YouTube videos out there.

08:35 – 08:42
Brittany
I have a good friend that, like I said, has done Balloon garlands and she’s a little bit better than me, more better.

08:43 – 08:47
Brittany
She does bigger events, and her pooling garlands are starting to get really intense.

08:48 – 08:50
Brittany
So she has a lot of good tips and tricks.

08:50 – 08:55
Brittany
You know, with adding like the smaller clusters of balloons are, or things like that.

08:57 – 09:01
Brittany
My, I guess, my advice, would be, always have command strips in your car.

09:03 – 09:06
Brittany
Never know if someone’s going to have something to hang it up on.

09:06 – 09:09
Brittany
But it’s super easy to throw command strips up there and go.

09:09 – 09:16
Brittany
I can you, we can hang on this and it’s not going to ruin your wall or whatever But yeah, watching YouTube videos.

09:17 – 09:33
Brittany
Um, one thing I’ve learned is that balloons are actually really if you don’t blow up a balloon all the way it’s super malleable, so I’ve shoved like these giant Glenn garlands in my van, and I’m just like pushing as hard as I can to get in there and they don’t pop because.

09:35 – 09:37
Brittany
Filled all the way so they have room to wiggle and stuff.

09:38 – 09:55
Brittany
So people get super nervous, when I’m like, Man, I’m handling these giant balloon garlands, and they’re like, oh, that’s good, but it really doesn’t, they’re pretty, they’re pretty durable, even though I don’t buy like super heavy duty balloon’s, like the really expensive kinds, um, they’re, they’re pretty malleable anyway.

09:56 – 09:57
Brock
Ok, OK, Awesome.

09:58 – 09:59
Brock
Well, that’s very interesting.

09:59 – 10:01
Brock
I guess I’d never thought I would want to learn…

10:01 – 10:02
Brock
So much about balloons.

10:04 – 10:08
Brock
So how can someone buy your product, or how can they buy your service?

10:09 – 10:15
Brittany
Right now I’m only taking orders on Facebook.

10:15 – 10:18
Brittany
So I have a Facebook page called Brittany’s Balloons.

10:19 – 10:26
Brittany
You can message that business page, and I will just see it on my phone and I’ll get back to you.

10:26 – 10:45
Brittany
And then what happens usually as we schedule a date and a time, and then you send me pictures of things that you want for like basic balloon garland’s, you know, something that’s, you know, you want you want something to cover a mantle or you want something to cover a wall and it’s just a Bloomberg Island.

10:45 – 10:51
Brittany
And you want some variety of like, sizes of balloons are like a variety of colors.

10:52 – 10:53
Brittany
I’m like super easy.

10:53 – 10:55
Brittany
I charge $10 a foot.

10:55 – 10:59
Brittany
So if you want a 10 foot balloon garland which is pretty big, it’s $100.

10:59 – 11:04
Brittany
If you want one to cover a mantle, it’s probably 50 bucks because it’s like five feet long.

11:05 – 11:12
Brittany
So, it’s like, it’s really super simple, and then if we want fancier balloons and we just charge the cost of the balloons from there on.

11:13 – 11:21
Brittany
Yeah, and we just talk back and forth on Facebook Messenger, and that’s what’s worked for me right now.

11:22 – 11:25
Brittany
Having that many, that I’m like, so overwhelmed.

11:25 – 11:31
Brittany
But I just, I, as soon as I get a date, I like, write it in my calendar, on my phone, and I put the person’s name.

11:31 – 11:40
Brittany
So that way if I, you know, if I’m scheduling something out in advance, like a month or
so, when it comes time to do that, I’m not like, whose garland was this.

11:40 – 11:42
Brittany
I don’t remember, as I always add their names.

11:42 – 11:48
Brittany
So then I just go back on my Facebook Messenger, Search for their name and then, and then get a hold of them that way.

11:48 – 11:58
Brock
Ok, so on Facebook Brittany’s Balloons Go message Britney and you can at least start a consultation to decide if you know this is a good fit for you, OK, awesome.

11:59 – 12:00
Brock
Well, let’s get to it.

12:00 – 12:05
Brock
Let’s switch over to the Entrepreneur side of things, which is kind of my favorite part.

12:05 – 12:06
Brock
What made you want to start this?

12:06 – 12:08
Brock
Especially in January of 2020.

12:08 – 12:14
Brittany
My husband started a business in the Northwest Arkansas area.

12:14 – 12:15
Brittany
That’s what brought us here.

12:16 – 12:24
Brittany
And I loved watching him grow and develop mentally and emotionally as a person as he started a business.

12:25 – 12:26
Brittany
And I’m a stay at home mom.

12:26 – 12:28
Brittany
I have a bachelor’s degree.

12:28 – 12:32
Brittany
I could be teaching school right now, but that’s not something that I wanted to do right now.

12:32 – 12:37
Brittany
But I also like having other things to do when I’m home as a mom.

12:37 – 12:39
Brittany
And I also like contributing to our finances.

12:42 – 12:44
Brittany
Like, I’d like to contribute towards financial status.

12:45 – 12:45
Brock
Your family.

12:46 – 12:48
Brittany
Tree three, yes.

12:49 – 12:56
Brittany
And, I also am like a really creative person, so I need creative outlets to keep me happy.

12:56 – 13:05
Brittany
So this was something that was, if it was more of a creative outlet for me that I was capitalizing off of, which I’m.

13:05 – 13:06
Brock
Really good at it.

13:06 – 13:06
Brittany
I guess.

13:09 – 13:16
Brittany
I wanted to just have something that I could do for fun, that I can make a little money off of, and that’s how that got started.

13:18 – 13:24
Brock
Ok, well, if that’s the case, then, what was the toughest thing that you went through while you were trying to get started?

13:25 – 13:26
Brittany
Um hmm.

13:27 – 13:28
Brock
And what I mean is…

13:29 – 13:30
Brock
Was it the skill side?

13:30 – 13:32
Brock
Was it customers?

13:32 – 13:35
Brock
Was it like, what aspect of the business was the most difficult?

13:35 – 13:42
Brittany
Sure quits, I feel like everything’s a little bit hard.

13:42 – 13:44
Brittany
When you get started, you’re just trying to figure out stuff.

13:45 – 13:55
Brittany
Um, it took me a bit to get my ducks in a row, like, how to organize how I was going to keep track of everybody, you know?

13:56 – 14:02
Brittany
Because at first, if it’s, like, one garland, you know, every other week, it’s really easy to keep track of that.

14:02 – 14:07
Brittany
But as soon as I was doing, you know, there’s some weeks where I have like 3 or 4 in a week, and then I don’t have any.

14:07 – 14:09
Brittany
And so it’s hard to keep track of that.

14:09 – 14:12
Brittany
So it took me a minute to figure out, OK, how do I want to organize this.

14:13 – 14:21
Brittany
And then as far as skill set go, I just feel like I, I, I can’t offer things that I’m not comfortable doing.

14:21 – 14:25
Brittany
I mean, I could, But then I like doing a disservice to the customer.

14:25 – 14:29
Brittany
So There’s been a couple of times where people send me stuff, and I’m like, I’m actually not comfortable doing that.

14:29 – 14:35
Brittany
I could try, but There’s no way that I’m gonna promise you that it’s gonna look like this.

14:35 – 14:40
Brittany
So just knowing your boundaries and knowing like, OK, what am I actually comfortable with doing?

14:41 – 14:44
Brittany
No, I always say under promise and over deliver.

14:44 – 14:48
Brittany
Like, that’s, that’s like, Yep.

14:49 – 14:50
Brock
Yep, yeah, OK!

14:51 – 15:02
Brock
Ok, OK, cool stuff, that’s very interesting, I mean, the backend, I think of any
entrepreneur, starting a business and they realize like, whoa, there’s way more to be organized than you thought there was.

15:02 – 15:05
Brock
I think that’s, to me, that’s always the biggest shock.

15:05 – 15:10
Brock
And any venture I’d been in, because you think, oh, yeah, like conceptualizing the model is super simple.

15:10 – 15:16
Brock
But when it comes down to actually keeping everything together, it’s like, well, I need that tool, and that tool, and that tool, and that tool.

15:16 – 15:17
Brock
So anyways.

15:17 – 15:18
Brittany
Yeah, exactly.

15:19 – 15:25
Brock
Well, if that’s the case, if you had to start over from day one, is there anything that you would do differently?

15:28 – 15:30
Brock
Start in January, 2021.

15:30 – 15:37
Brittany
Or, I don’t know, probably Not, because I liked having a slow start, OK.

15:37 – 15:37
Brock
Because.

15:38 – 15:39
Brittany
I learned as I went.

15:39 – 15:50
Brittany
But maybe it would really be nice to know some of the, like, the tricks that I do now for installing balloon garlands, or I used to start with, like, a really, really fine fishing line.

15:50 – 15:51
Brittany
But they get tangled.

15:51 – 15:52
Brittany
And sometimes it would snap.

15:52 – 16:00
Brittany
But, now, I buy just 50lbs fishing line, you can get like the 50 pound fishing line, because it’s super easy to work with.

16:00 – 16:02
Brittany
It doesn’t get tangled and it’s not going to break.

16:02 – 16:04
Brittany
So that would be a big change.

16:04 – 16:04
Brock
That I.

16:04 – 16:05
Brittany
Would be wasted.

16:05 – 16:08
Brittany
A whole bunch of frustration.

16:09 – 16:11
Brittany
Aye from fishing.

16:13 – 16:22
Brock
Ok, well, besides the 50lbs fishing line, is there any one person or product or service that has just made a huge, positive shift in your business?

16:26 – 16:32
Brittany
Probably, just my husband just cheering me on and going, you’re doing a good job, and, you.

16:33 – 16:33
Brock
Know, telling.

16:33 – 16:38
Brittany
Me, you know, telling me that I can do it no matter, you know, no matter what.

16:40 – 16:43
Brittany
He’s really patient with me when I say, hey, I need to go install this balloon garland.

16:43 – 16:50
Brittany
And so I need you to watch the kids so that I can go put this up and have my, have my Zen moment and no kids there.

16:50 – 16:54
Brittany
So, it looks pretty without kids running around, because that’s, That’s always great.

16:55 – 16:57
Brittany
But my kids love balloons. They love it.

16:58 – 16:59
Brock
Because that’s a big part.

17:01 – 17:09
Brittany
I’m all, You can play with all the glands, except when I blow up the big ones because I’m like those are $8 blends if you pop that it’s coming out of your college fund.

17:14 – 17:17
Brock
Mom dollars That’s all taken all your mom dollars away.

17:20 – 17:25
Brock
What’s the number one way that you currently bring in new customers?

17:25 – 17:28
Brock
I’m assuming it’s word of mouth unless you’ve got some cool tricks up your sleeves.

17:29 – 17:34
Brittany
It actually, I, we and I, so I go to a women’s networking meeting, it’s.

17:34 – 17:35
Brock
Called Women in Networking

17:37 – 17:41
Brittany
Met a friend there, she is an event planner.

17:41 – 17:51
Brittany
So at first I did a couple events with her and so I installed a balloon, I did a balloon, garland at one, and then like a lighted balloon wall at the other.

17:51 – 17:56
Brittany
And, and then, once I had, I had a couple Oh, my gosh.

17:56 – 18:05
Brittany
Once I had those, I had some great photos that I felt comfortable putting on Facebook marketplace, and running an advertisement.

18:05 – 18:11
Brittany
So I ran an advertisement for, I think, like three days or five days, because that’s all I could afford.

18:11 – 18:33
Brittany
And then I got some hits there, but a lot of them weren’t local, But I am, I did some there, and then, I can’t remember, but I have a Facebook marketplace ad, But so things were kind of slow going, until I did a balloon garland at someone’s house, it was just for like a 17th birthday party.

18:33 – 18:35
Brittany
It wasn’t like a giant balloon garland.

18:35 – 18:39
Brittany
It wasn’t that, like, fantastic in my mind.

18:42 – 18:52
Brittany
She posted it on her Facebook page and tagged my business page, and from then on I think I booked like four people just from her word of mouth.

18:52 – 18:56
Brittany
And so, now that I have, I have those four people’s word of mouth.

18:56 – 18:58
Brittany
I’m starting to think it’s like a tree, and it’s growing.

18:58 – 19:04
Brittany
So, in my opinion, I think word of mouth is like the most valuable asset for me.

19:04 – 19:14
Brittany
So, now, when I’m installing balloon garlands, I’m like, Hey, tag me on Facebook because, or tell your friends, and that’s what makes it easy for me to get more customers.

19:15 – 19:16
Brock
Very cool.

19:16 – 19:21
Brock
I like the idea you shared, when you’re younger than the networking event, you met the event planner.

19:21 – 19:28
Brock
And now, you basically kind of create this partnership, like hey I can provide this service that you probably can’t get anywhere else.

19:28 – 19:33
Brock
So if you know one of your clients needs this, you come to me, that’s a great great way to get things set up and get things rolling.

19:33 – 19:34
Brock
It’s fantastic.

19:34 – 19:34
Brock
Networking.

19:34 – 19:36
Brittany
Is really, really valuable.

19:36 – 19:37
Brittany
It’s a, really fun.

19:37 – 19:41
Brittany
In my opinion, I like to me, I like, I’m like a hype girl.

19:41 – 19:42
Brittany
I like to hear other people on.

19:42 – 19:45
Brittany
You’re doing a good job with your business.

19:46 – 20:00
Brittany
And so I like to learn about other people’s businesses, and cheer them on, and be authentic about cheering them on because then, you know, when they have, when someone comes to them, know, with a need that I can fulfill, they’re gonna go.

20:00 – 20:01
Brittany
Oh, this person’s really nice.

20:01 – 20:06
Brittany
And they, you know, they, I don’t know, they are valuable employee.

20:08 – 20:11
Brittany
Like, you can hire them and they will do a good job.

20:11 – 20:20
Brock
Yeah, yes, OK, OK, we’ll see for anyone that’s listening that maybe can serve you, what’s a major challenge that you’re facing right now?

20:21 – 20:25
Brock
Anything you’re trying to overcome that someone might be listening and say… Hey, I can help you solve that problem.

20:27 – 20:27
Brittany
Um.

20:28 – 20:37
Brittany
I mean as far as organization goes, it would be kind of nice to outsource that to somebody else.

20:38 – 20:48
Brittany
Say hey, I know having someone else make the calendar of, this is what garland’s you need at this time and this day.

20:49 – 20:55
Brittany
So then it would be a lot easier for me to just go purchase the balloons, or a person sent online and then go install them.

20:55 – 21:04
Brittany
Because that does take up a lot of my time, you know, sitting on my phone, messaging people, That’s not something that I want to be doing all the time.

21:04 – 21:06
Brittany
And sometimes it’s helpful, But.

21:06 – 21:07
Brittany
Yeah, well.

21:07 – 21:12
Brock
That’s just maybe leaning into this, and so, in the next six months to a year, where do you see your business?

21:14 – 21:16
Brittany
Well, I Would hope for the eye.

21:18 – 21:26
Brittany
Can keep it small enough that I don’t have to, um, put my kids on the backburner.

21:27 – 21:32
Brittany
I would hope that it would grow enough that I can maybe hire somebody else to help me.

21:32 – 21:33
Brittany
Because.

21:33 – 21:33
Brock
Sure, that.

21:33 – 21:39
Brittany
Would be great, it’s a great thing to be able to provide somebody else with an employment opportunity.

21:40 – 21:42
Brittany
We live in America, so, we.

21:46 – 21:47
Brittany
That’s what makes entrepreneurship.

21:47 – 21:52
Brittany
So great, and it’s a great feeling when you’re able to provide somebody else with employment.

21:52 – 21:54
Brock
Ok, I love it, love it, love it.

21:55 – 22:02
Brock
You’ve kinda already hinted at this in the beginning, but I’m gonna ask it anyway, just to reiterate, like, why are you doing this?

22:02 – 22:05
Brock
Like what was, what was your why to push you forward?

22:06 – 22:12
Brittany
Well my why has always been selfishly rooted and it’s just because I like…

22:12 – 22:15
Brittany
I wanted something for myself to prove something to myself.

22:15 – 22:22
Brittany
But now I feel like it’s not so much that, um, now I feel like it’s.

22:25 – 22:28
Brittany
Setting an example to my children.

22:29 – 22:29
Brittany
Hard work.

22:30 – 22:32
Brittany
And organization.

22:32 – 22:43
Brittany
And also, I appreciate that I also like learning new things so that I can teach others like I feel like everything that I have learned and gleaned in my life.

22:43 – 22:49
Brittany
Like I want to share it with other people And so like opportunities like this or I do get to share some of these.

22:49 – 22:50
Brock
Right, so there are.

22:50 – 22:53
Brittany
People, I really appreciate that and that’s kinda why I do it.

22:54 – 22:56
Brock
Awesome, that’s fantastic.

22:56 – 23:05
Brock
All right, well, let’s do one more shameless plug. What’s the best way for someone to get in contact with you to purchase your services?

23:05 – 23:12
Brittany
Just go onto Facebook and type up Brittany’s Balloons

23:13 – 23:24
Brittany
I know someone asked me. Someone I went to a networking meeting to promote Brittany’s Balloons and I didn’t have a name for it yet.

23:24 – 23:25
Brittany
They were like, What’s your business called?

23:26 – 23:26
Brittany
I was like?

23:28 – 23:30
Brittany
Like, almost like.

23:30 – 23:30
Brock
Because I.

23:30 – 23:37
Brittany
Was like, They both start with B and that, that makes sense, but then, so I just called it that, like almost a.

23:37 – 23:38
Brock
Joke and.

23:38 – 23:40
Brittany
Then, as, like, it works, but.

23:41 – 23:42
Brittany
But yeah, go to Brittany’s Balloons

23:42 – 23:53
Brittany
On Facebook, you can scroll through some of the things I have done so far, and then you can send me a message and send me a picture of something you like, or, you know, just say, hey, you know.

23:53 – 23:53
Brock
Like.

23:53 – 23:54
Brittany
Your work.

23:54 – 24:06
Brock
I love this because I talked to too many people far too often, like they get so tied up in, like branding and names and logos and like all this stuff that is so outward.

24:06 – 24:11
Brock
And they like either disregard or put on the back burner, just pure execution.

24:12 – 24:13
Brock
And that’s what I’m seeing from you.

24:13 – 24:15
Brock
You’ve said, listen, I can do this.

24:15 – 24:20
Brock
I’m getting myself out there even I don’t have all my ducks in a row, you know, per se, but your.

24:20 – 24:20
Brittany
Execution is.

24:20 – 24:22
Brock
What’s propelling your business forward.

24:22 – 24:28
Brock
And it at the end of the day, like, OK, Brittany’s Balloons like, maybe you could have come up with a cooler name.

24:28 – 24:30
Brock
I don’t know, but I like.

24:30 – 24:31
Brock
But my.

24:31 – 24:31
Brittany
Point.

24:32 – 24:36
Brock
Is like, you wouldn’t be where you are if you were still worried about what to call your business.

24:37 – 24:38
Brittany
Yeah, exactly.

24:38 – 24:45
Brittany
Yeah, you, you spend your whole time going, what’s my logo look like instead of actually just going out and making a name for yourself.

24:45 – 24:46
Brittany
Exactly.

24:46 – 24:46
Brittany
And.

24:46 – 24:47
Brock
Don’t get me wrong.

24:47 – 24:48
Brock
There’s a time and a place.

24:48 – 24:49
Brock
There’s a time and a.

24:49 – 24:50
Brittany
Place but just.

24:50 – 24:55
Brock
Especially like as a solo preneur, you know, level, we get way too.

24:55 – 25:00
Brock
Way too worried about what other people are going to think about our name and logo and colors and blah, blah, blah.

25:00 – 25:03
Brock
Like just get out there and perform and people will pay attention.

25:03 – 25:04
Brittany
Definitely.

25:05 – 25:05
Brittany
Awesome.

25:06 – 25:07
Brock
Well, we’re almost done.

25:07 – 25:08
Brock
Let me wrap up here.
